Mr. Thrifty Tip #11: Other junk mail resources

There are a lot of other junk mail resources out there that will offer to help you.  First off, don’t fall for any of those that charge you for the service.  Mr. Thrifty would expect that any of his readers would know this, but there are a lot of scammers out there, so no way, don’t pay to get off of junk mail lists.

Other sites that Mr. Thrifty likes are:

http://www.junkbusters.com/junkmail.html - Kind of an advocacy/protest site
http://www.dmaconsumers.org/offmailinglist.html - site of the evil junk mail trade group but some good information here on junk mail
http://www.privacyrights.org/ - Another advocacy group

What is the deal? I get tons and tons of junk mail and I don't even buy anything from catalogs. I guess that is a disadvantage of living in an apartment. :upset I guess I will try some of these things to see if I can get it to at least slow down.

Anyone got any tips on how I can punish the junk mail senders?

Mr. Thrifty, when are you going to write an article on getting rid of email spam?

someone must respond to the junk mail they get. otherwise why would we get so much of it? i heard a rumor that the government may come out with a "do not junk mail" like like the "do not call" list. anyone else hear about that?

A particular bugbear of mine. I just wait 'till it builds up, write "return to sender" and put it in the postbox. If everyone did this, the Post Office would be forced to withdraw junk mail.
