Mr. Thrifty Tip #2: Avoid the Appetizers

It is not a huge secret that the appetizers at a restaurant are often much higher priced for the food you get than the entrée.  In fact, Mr. Thrifty has spoken with several restaurant servers who told us that their particular restaurant holds a nightly content to see who could sell the most appetizers as they were some of the most profitable items on the menu.

Great real example- Mr. Thrifty ate at Cheesecake Factory last night (the only menu that Mr. Thrifty has ever come across which is large enough to contain advertisements!).  He ordered a big chicken salad and some pot stickers for an entrée.  The salad was $12 and the pot stickers were $8- that equates to $2 per pot sticker.  They were tasty but not worth the $2 a pop.

Most of the time Mr. Thrifty goes to a restaurant he is starving (Mr. Thrifty eats a lot).  However, resist the appetizer urge!  Your wallet with thank you!
