Mr. Thrifty Tip #1: Split the Entrée

Let’s start with a basic tip that Mr. and Mrs. Thrifty have used for years- split the entrée.  In the city where the Thrifty’s live, there is a Mexican restaurant called Pappasito’s.  Wonderful wonderful food if you have never been there before.  Two thumbs up.  Anyway, one of Pappasito’s specialties happens to be fajita’s (the Thrifty’s order chicken).

The good news about Pappasito’s is that the food is not only delicious but they serve conspicuous quantities of the stuff.  That combined with the great chips and salsa left the Thrifty’s feeling bloated when they left after a normal two entrée meal.  However, recently they have starting splitting chicken fajitas for one.  Sometimes, restaurants like Pappasito’s charge a “entrée splitting fee” of a couple of dollars, but that more than makes up for the savings of one entrée vs. two.  This arrangement works especially well as Mr. Thrifty gets to eat about 60% of the entrée vs. Mrs. Thrifty’s 40%.

Now every time the Thrifty’s leave Pappasito’s they leave feeling full (but not sick) and their wallet is a little more full as well.
