Last Resort: Cash is King

Mr. Thrifty Principle #1: Don’t regift! Actually buy something.

First let’s start with a big “DON’T”. Don’t regift a wedding present you received from someone else. It may seem like a good idea to regift the silver-plated DVD case that says “Our Wedding Video.” However, it quickly becomes a bad idea when the receiving couple opens your wedding gift and sees the inscription on the inside that says “Congratulations Jon and Erin, April 3, 2004.” In this case Jon and Erin both looked cheap not thrifty (Note: this is a true story).

Mr. Thrifty’s friend, Mr. Cheap Sales Guy has a hard time with this one (note: this is the same guy that has been know to duct tape his long underwear so he doesn’t have to buy a new pair), but at the end of the day you will need to spend some cash on a wedding gift.
